Default Best AWD or FWD Euro?

If you were getting rid of your ti and these were your options which one of these cars would you choose and why? What other FWD or AWD cars would you consider (keeping with in a realistic budget for a 17 yr. old) and why would you choose that car over the others listed.?

e30 AWD, good basic learner car. Robust and easy to fix.

If he can learn to maintain a M20 and simplier drivetrain, then I would move him up the ladder...

BtW: FWDs are the devil.

Learn to drive the car you have, it's by far the most economical option.

YES: A Volvo BOX wagen..nothing says Kid Driver beware, like a sticker covered Volvo wagen.

Back in the HS days, one of my ROTC friends had a Box Wagen, in volvo off-white: Named "White Trash", god we would pack like 10 of us in it and go to the BK Lounge for some whopper/Fries before Color Guard Practice was the bomb.

If you are referring to the C30 it's not a wagon but a 2 door hatch like the ti but with more umph..

the volvo C30 is just different body panels on the 2nd generation ford focus platform....now, the I5 turbo would whip anything else on your list....lol.

but for the money, the mini is still your best bet. I know alaskablue is practically humping his everyday...

I agree. And new(er) cars like the ones on your list just seem like such a waste of money. Why pay interest on something that depreciates so rapidly?

That said, I do like FWD cars. Of the ones on your list, I like the MINI S, although they have had reliability problems. Everything else is too heavy.

Look for an A1 or A2 VW, original Sentra SE-R, or an original Dodge Neon. All are cheap to buy, easy to work on, have good competition history and still somewhat of an aftermarket. Various Honda products (pre-2000 Civic, CRX, etc. etc.) work well too, just more money.

Ok sorry about some of the details I forgot to mention. The reason I created this thread is because my ti has gone to hell and dosnt have much time left as a daily driver. The reason I am looking for a FWD or AWD car is that my mom hates the idea of me driving a RWD car and would give me more money for a FWD or AWD car then a RWD car, belive me I dont want a FWD car, they suck. And BTW I can drive my RWD car just fine and its not a issue of me not being able to drive one. Right now my budget looks like it will be about 15k depending on when my dads law suit turn out. And Turbo Bricks rock, nothing is cooler then a big turbo volvo, except for the ti =).

I would vote for the mini S. I just took delivery of mine last weekend and love it. I couldn't be happier. I don't know what else there is to say other than it is a fantastic car. Straight out of the box the Mini S is a way better car than the a ti. That being said I still have the ti and love it too.

Fixing the ti is your best bet. Seriously, they are cheap as hell to fix if you can do some of the work yourself.

VW R32, i drove one and they are f*cking badass! And its quick. Faster than an e36 M3 in my opinion and ive driven both. R32 is like 236 torque i think and its AWD. Why is your mom tripping about the RWD?

It doesn't need park distance control, and hates decadence. It is musclepacked, yet lightly wound. It lets you feel the asphalt and get you going with the smallest touch of the pedal. It provokes, seduces, and demands to be driven hard. It looks, sounds, and smells like performance.

Keep in mind not every 17yr old has 35k to spend on VW R32, a realistic budget is in the low to mid 20's if not less.
