Very good info there, but it didn't expand on the correction bolt. I'm wondering if anyone has tried this. Is there something special about that bolt (part# 07-11-9-900-587 M12x45) or can I use any M12x45 bolt? just got the bilstien sports, getting ready to order bavauto springs and new mounting hardware. In 2 weeks my ti will handle a LOT better. On my e30 I had the H&R race springs and bilstiens and the camber was far off and wore my tires bad. The handling was excellent but ride quality suffered. On my e28 I bought the bavauto springs and bilstiens and that setup was perfect for me, truely the best of both worlds. There's a list on here of things you should consider upgrading when you do the suspension, but all I'm going to do is the shock tower mounts front and rear. I'm hopeful that with my mild upgrade .5 degrees of camber correction will be enough, otherwise I may get a correction kit to fix it. Front and rear would be another $500, so that's a later upgrade. Be sure you have spring compressers to do the front, the rear is pretty easy. Also to do the top shock bolt I have a 'custom' tool configuration to tighten it. I use a deep 1/2 drive socket on the nut with a small 1/4" socket with an extension through the 1/2" socket hooked to a rachet. I then use vise grips to hold the 1/2" drive socket... this was for both the e30 and e28, I'm assuming the e36 is the same... | | | 02-03-2006, 03:05 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: PA Posts: 1,906 | yeah i'm kinda of intimidated by the race springs, maybe i should have went with sport springs....thanks for the info. it'll probably take me a few weeks to muster up the courage to tackle this myself. __________________ | | | 02-03-2006, 03:07 PM | #5 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthrea...7-11-9-900-587 more info on the bolt (which is where i got it for the KB article). btw, way to use the KB! __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 02-03-2006, 03:33 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Manassas, VA Posts: 4,129 | Hey, a group buy on the Bavauto springs would be nice. With the Race, thecamber is roughly between -2, -2.5Ί. For everyday use that's harsh and really eats away at the tires. BTW, your Bilsteins should be around the corner (out for delivery).
