It the pads that hold the Jack in place in the hatch | | | 04-11-2013, 08:59 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | The jack pads for the lift points. __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 04-12-2013, 04:40 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: Sacramento, CA Posts: 2,451 | Has anyone determined if the missing jackpads contribute to headliner failure? I recall this was a suspect area for E39s. __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org! No noise or sagging headliner. lol I mention the jack pads possibly making the whistling noise do to seeing a few posts from Steven mentioning it. I usually have the radio up loud enough to void out any noises my car might make. lol __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 04-12-2013, 06:49 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: Sacramento, CA Posts: 2,451 | Quote: Originally Posted by teetime4one Never heard of this one Rich. It's one of the first things I check when I pick up an older BMW. my 95's headliner was already giving way, so I couldn't check the effect on the E36 ti. My 97 headliner is intact, so I wasn't going to experiment there... __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org! I guess the air passes over a spot just right to annoy me. Still havent fond the exact location and its just the passenger side. | | | 04-12-2013, 01:56 PM | #10 | Member Join Date: Mar 2013 Location: richmond tx ( MARS) Posts: 94 | Well my headliner needs to be fixed so this might be true. | | | 04-12-2013, 04:50 PM | #11 | Junior Member Join Date: Jul 2010 Location: Stockport, Manchester UK Posts: 11 | Whistling noise Hey guys yea I'm getting a whistle too, I'm on my second ti both whistled I think mines to with the seal around the window | | | 04-12-2013, 05:03 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: Sacramento, CA Posts: 2,451 | Quote: Originally Posted by Andy318ti Hey guys yea I'm getting a whistle too, I'm on my second ti both whistled I think mines to with the seal around the window | I have the same torn seal issue on both of my ti's and don't have a whistle there. I am interested though if anyone has repaired this particular seal as I'll need to do it on both cars.
