Default Pulled over

I was just pulled over by some fat ass pig, who had nothing better to do. To protect and to serve my ass! He pulled me over and cited me $106.50 for my tint. That fat ass didn't even give me a warning. Its cops like him that piss me off. So not only do I have to pay, but I have to remove ALL my tint. He said it was because my ti is registered as a coupe. The suv's and trucks are allowed tint, but not coupes and sedans. What a PRICK!!!

Very interesting. Is all that information valid and up to date? The kind officer told me it is illegal to have any tint lower than 70%. He metered it at 17%.

That site says its ok to have tint so long as you can see in and out of the car. With all my windows up you can still see how many are in the car and whatnot.

What is the deal? I haven't taken it off yet, and i don't want to. Should I just eat the $106.50 or should I try to fight it?

This is eating me up inside....

I'm not sure what to tell you to do. It seems like a waste to fight it and take to court. I know whith my 20% tint you can see in and out of my car.

Your absolutely right! I just hate the fact that I gotta take all my tint off. I spent alot of time doing it and it came out pretty damn good.

I just talked to my cousin, who is a state trooper. He said he will get back to me tomarrow (he's currently driving home from Ocean City, Md). He said he didn't know the law off hand but said he would look into it.

I think it depends on the State rules.

Ohio for example is 30% windshield and 50% other.

I've been pulled over for tint before. You can fight it, but I'm pretty sure the judge is going to side with the cop. Cops hate tint because they can't see in side of the car, so if you have a weapon, they don't know until it's too late.

Ask your cousin to sign off on the equipment violation. Any cop can sign off on it, and then send it in. Pay the fine, and hope that the same cop doesn't bust you again for it. If he does, you HAVE to cover for your cousin and say that you had the windows re-tinted after you had it inspected. This is exactly what I do when I get equipment violation. I usually take my cop friend out for a steak dinner and some drinks, then ask her to sign it. Works everytime.

thats not factory, your gonna get it from a CHP (local cops dont care)

its our highway cops here that pull you over for any 'mechanical' problem..

the high fine is to wake up the kid's parents for the most part.

I'll ask if he'll do that for me, Thanks

In the meantime...

he cited me under CFR 175.67 (D-4)

"Def. operated a vehicle with window tint reducing transmittance below 70%".

This is what 175.67 (D-4) states

A sun screening device or other material which does not permit a person to see or view the inside of the vehicle is prohibited, unless otherwise permitted by FMVSS No. 205, or a certificate of exemption has been issued in compliance with § 175.265 (relating to exemption provisions). See Table X for specific requirements for vehicles subject to this subchapter. Passenger car requirements relating to the rear window are delineated by vehicle model year in Table X.

I feel like going right now and asking the cop that pulled me over to show me where I broke the law. The cop station is right down the street.

In most states you just can't have it on the front wiindows but the backs are ok. I had to remove mine from the front to register my car in RI but up in Boston it's ok.

I got a fix it for my Stromung a few months ago, from FHP, got a deputy to sign it off as OE, and paid the 7$ fee.

Most to all Highway Patrols/DOT Troops can sod off for my .02 cents

This is why he pulled you over. It's because HE couldn't see inside, not because YOU can't see out. They need to be able to SEE INSIDE your car.

Ok, but my two front windows were down....

I just went out and put both my kids in the car and I could tell there were two people in it.

What I'm going do....

Pay fine. Take off all my tint. Then retint the back three windows with 30 or 35 percent film.

What sucks is I'm moving out of state next summer!! Anyone know the rules in Florida?
