According to TR, the only warehouse that has them in stock closest to NY is in Nevada and the shipping quote is about $100 for me. Still a pretty good deal. Looks like a great deal for you west coast ti owners. __________________ McLaren F1 - BMW M Power S70/2 | | | 03-15-2009, 11:23 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: central ct Posts: 503 | I had a set of these... i wouldn't recommend them for anything other than autox use. they are a good tire, don't get me wrong... but they are very bad at being a daily driver tire. they pull on the SLIGHTEST crown, crack, etc in the road. real bad, like whips the wheel out of your hands bad. __________________ 2010 Genesis Coupe 2.0t track | 2000 Dakota Former 1995 318ti owner | | | 03-16-2009, 02:24 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: SOUTH Jersey Posts: 1,085 | I ran them, they are not that bad.. I currently run the 050a.. a much better tyre | | | 03-16-2009, 07:05 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | I got these with the deal, 235/40R18 on my MM11-3 wheels. Awesome tires. Better than the previous 050a's I had (Speaking of which, anyone want some used 050a's? You can take all four for free. In fact, you must take all four. One is almost bald, 2 have 2/3 wear, and one has 1/4 wear). I have so much grip now!!! speaking of which, the installer told me that my rims are bent. Where can I get them fixed? they're Mille Miglia rims. He mentioned a company in NY that does it. | | | 03-16-2009, 07:22 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: NJ Posts: 1,625 | however you look at it - 59 bucks per tire is a great deal. if I needed tires - I would jump on these... cant beat the price. __________________ SOLD!SOLD!SOLD!SOLD!SOLD!SOLD!SOLD!SOLD! So at $59/each, I'm really considering a set, considering I need a set of summer tires. Also looking at the RE760 Sport's at $115/each for the same size. Anyone had both and can compare the two, or either and care to comment on things like tread wear and such? Also trying to figure out when to swap the tires. Spring officially starts this week, but without a spare set of rims just yet I'm a little hesitant to swap so soon (living in the midwest). Also curious where people would recommend getting them installed, as I've never bought tires online before. I got my snow tires (Blizzak WS60's) at a local Firestone Complete Autocare store, and they mentioned something about swapping tires in the spring and fall for free for the first 2-3 years. Anyone taken this offer from them and know if it's only good for tires purchased in store, or if I could take any tire in and they'd do it? Just called the nearest Firestone CAS, and they can still get the RE-01R's, but for the same size it's around $180/each, so this is a great deal. The store I called said they don't do the free swapping anymore. Ran some numbers. RE-01R's purchashed in store will run me about $805 total (tax & install included), RE760 Sport's about $601. Getting the RE-01R's from TireRack would cost me $308.24 shipped, plus about $50 for the install (or free if the store I got my Blizzak's from will do it). I was just about to hit the Checkout button online, then I noticed "2005 Production." They're going to be anywhere from 3.5-4.5 years old before they get to me. Doing some searching found that several car companies (BMW included) don't recommend putting tires on a car, even if they're new, if they're more than 6 years old for safety reasons. Anybody's thoughts/knowledge on that? Worst case I guess I'll get two summer's use out of them. By then I should have the money for a second set of wheels/tires. Still trying to figure out when to swap tires too. Was a little surprised at the way they were "packaged" (two sets of two tires banded and taped together), but then I didn't really know what to expect. There's a little scuffing on the sidewalls that were facing out, but nothing that looks damaging. Probably won't be installed for at least 3 weeks at least, but it's nice not having to worry about getting summer tires and how much it's going to cost. Not real happy with UPS either. The driver simply left them outside our back door, didn't knock or anything. Had I not been waiting for them, heard our gate close, and looked out to see a UPS guy walking back down our front steps, they probably would have sat outside for a few hours, inviting someone driving by to take them. I'm assuming if you order them mounted on wheels they'd box them. Looked at the page again and they've got "fewer than 5" remaining, so if you want this deal, order now. The tires I got were from the 13th & 14th week of '06, so right around three years old. Should be good for 2-3 summers at least, if I don't get new wheels before then.
