I have "heard" that you can also remove the chip from the donor car's key (if you have it) abd place in the 318ti's key. If you use the donor's EWS module, it will recognize the chip from the key (They match) and will send a coded signal to the ECU which will alos be recognized, and the car will start. I have not confirmed that option to be true but if it works, it saves from replacing ignition switches, door lock cylinders and the hatch lock. | Oh man, not this again.. Three things need to match for EWS, Engine computer (DME), EWS Module and transponder chip in the key. Given that you want to keep the DME from your donor engine, you ABSOLUTELY need the other pieces from the donor car. And a word of caution, wiring for the EWS system is not standardized across TI model years, let alone all e36s. ......ask me how I know. __________________ SOLD!!! 1999 332ti //M Sport Titanium Silver M3 S52 3.2 I-6 Engine, M3 Clutch w/ ti Getrag Trans, Z3 3.15 LSD medium case diff and half shafts, OEM Hatch Spoiler, Eurosport HP Underdrive Pulleys, FDM, 17" DS1 rims, M3 Front Struts & Springs, M3 Instrument Cluster, 3-spoke //M steering wheel with tri-color stitching, SSK, CCFL Angels in Depo projectors with 5k HIDs |
