This DIY shows you what to look for, what to buy, and how to do it: http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=20854 I would never use an additive like that in my oil, but that's just me. I don't think that caused the leak, though. Most likely when you tightened the oil filter cap, you stressed the old o-ring enough to let it go. Good luck. | | | 09-03-2009, 05:14 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2009 Location: Baltimore, MD Posts: 130 | thankz Dave. i think i will not use it anymore especially since the synthetic oils have basically the same additives in them. when i took it for inspection they told me that the oil was coming from the front main seal, but after doin a lil research on this site i see that the oil filter housing gaskets can be a source of the leak i will do a lil cleaning of the engine n take a closer look. i know my car had a leak before my oil change but this stuff just seemed to find its way out literally overnight..... either way, i will try to change the filter housing gasket at my next oil change. | | | 09-03-2009, 06:07 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Wisconsin Posts: 1,895 | I would not recommend it. Oil is supposed to flow. But, this guys uses it for EVERYTHING: http://www.expotv.com/videos/reviews...l1Gallon/20276 __________________ ... ʎɐqǝ uo pɹɐoqʎǝʞ ɐ ʎnq ı ǝɯıʇ ʇsɐן ǝɥʇ sı sıɥʇ | | | 09-03-2009, 08:47 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Raleigh/Charlotte, NC Posts: 1,233 | It pretty much just cuts your oil and makes it thinner. Might work for freeing sticky lifters, but not on an oil leak. __________________ -Jeff | | | 09-03-2009, 09:14 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2009 Location: Baltimore, MD Posts: 130 | lol, which is probably why it leaked right out. Needless to say i wont put it in my oil anymore... now does anyone use gas additives? it still could be useful for that. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
