Default M44 PnP Ultimate Coil On Plug Special

Here's the deal...

We discovered that a turbo M42 makes more torque than a Getrag 240 can take so we need to upgrade to a ZF in the race car.

We've made up some M44 Coil On Plug kits that include a PnP harness and we've got a special offer... the first 5 units for $300, shipped in the US ($330 International).

Plenty of benefits, but 4 new coils, boots, custom harness, mounting plate and hardware for less than a set of BMW coils.

Check out details on the car at www.hqautosport.com or PM for more details.

I bought the COP kit from HQ back in October for my M42. Quality parts at a good price.

Default Provision for sparkplug valley cover?

Is there a provision for the sparkplug cover on the M44 kits?

Sorry, we've not worked on that. I think there are a few options that would make it work, but we have not had the time to look at it. We run it on the race car without. Most of the covers I've seen have been so worn that the new coils and harness look better than the faded cover.

If you have one that's in great shape, I can see why you would want to keep it.

You would not want a cover, the coils need some air flow for staying cool.
Now some kind of expanded metal, grid or something would be cool!

My concern is on a street driven car would there be a problem with splashed water building up in that valley? Around here we can get some serious rain and I just wonder if it could be a problem.

I'm not too sure about the cooling aspect... BMW covers the coils on all the other engines, which have COP as well.

Hotter the coil the slower it saturates, cooler is better with any coil/transformer.
Coils give off heat as well. The cover is for looks IMHO, I've found water under the cover several times. after rinsing the top when cleaning the engine bay. Seldom found water from driving.

I don't doubt that cooler is better for coils.
