Default EWS Location.

When I search, it doesn't search for EWS. I need to know where this is located ASAP. I just got my new keys. I can lock and unlock but can't start the car. Anyone know? 1995 M42

My Bentley says it's behind the glove compartment. Possibly the lowest (closest to the floor) unit in there.

From unofficialbmw.com
It's the purple one.
I have an extra EWS-II module.

Well, BMW said that it has to be reprogrammed. My brand new one is grayish. Maybe the original is purple, which would have been why I didnt see it. Ill try it out tomorrow. The parts guy said it just has to be plugged in but service said it has to be reprogrammed. Anyone know which of these are true. I have an appt on Monday morning. Not needed if they dont have to reprogram. Thanks a lot you two. I HAVE to get a bentley manual soon.

I am almost certain that your DME needs dealer-coding to recognize the changed EWS-II module. I would write certain if I ever had had it done to my car.

I would think the dealer needs to align the EWS to the DME. My module is whiteish but the connector is purple and has a green label.
