Default M44 E-Bay Turbo Build

Hello,

Been doing a lot of searching of old threads to confirm whether or not the commonly talked about OBX/Ebay turbo kit fits without needing to notch the frame. Entire kit is linked below:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-318I-318IS-318IC-318TI-E36-L4-M42B18-B44B19-M42-M40-M44-T3-T04E-Turbo-Kit/282623837021?hash=item41cdb1835d:gE8AAOSwyI5Zn1h3&vxp=mtr

From forum searching, I'm under the impression that certain size turbos WILL clear the car without notching. Which size turbo would that be?

Also, would it be better to buy these parts separately? I know a very reputable forum member (Johnny?) recommended omitting certain parts from the kit to opt for others in an older thread.

Any information would be helpful. Thanks!

EbAY turbo kits are cheap quality on parts that you really should not skimp on....

The manifolds are also crap, along with the BOVs

Actually, the first sticky on our induction page features a senior member using an Ebay-sourced kit with great results.

http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=27092

I do know he did not end up using a turbo from ebay, but almost everything else (manifolds, piping, wastegate, BOV, intercooler) was sourced through the previously listed seller.

His thread is extremely helpful but because the photos he took are no longer hosted, I can't really "get the picture" through text alone.

I will PM him as soon as I've reached my post requirements. In the mean time, anyone else that has used this kit, please let me know how it worked for you. Thanks

For the thousands you are going to spend to make it quality and last, just swap a 6 cylinder in.... or an S50 M3 motor. It will be more reliable...

The kit itself isnt too bad, just the turbo and manifold I would change. But the original member John Boy says he bought one of these kits and ran thousands of miles on it with success. I just dont know how hard he drives his Ti...
