Anyone know how many cc's the stock injectors are in the M44?

Injectors aren’t really a wear item. They do need gaskets but that’s a simple rebuild. You can get them flow tested as well if they’re out and cleaned. Basically a machine that run detergents through and makes sure they are within spec.

Stock injectors are 19lbs. Unless you’re FI or running a built motor there isn’t a reason to change to a larger injector. If you are VAC sells adapter to run the Bosch style from the 6s. Obviously not just a plug-in play as you’d need supporting software mods.

No you cannot place in higher flow injectors. The ECU needs to be tuned for the injectors. Besides being that high they are for FI motors. BMW did just about as much as they could to pull power from the M44. There aren’t many inexpensive mods that gain you much power.

What are you trying to do?

I heard platinum or iridium spark plugs are good for performance too, but im not sure which is better.

You could make a few gains, first just making sure engine is tuned up. CAI kits don’t do much but add sound, just make sure filter is a stock replacement. Lightweight flywheels do help in in terms of feeling so you may want to look into that. Could also change rear differential to a 393/410 to sacrifice highway mpg. A cat back sounds nice and may add a few. Supersprint was my favorite in M44. Midnight Tuning on here does tunes that will pull a few hp for higher octane fuel.

If you wanted to go full build on the M44 Metric Mechanic makes motors but that will be 5-10K. There might be a few BMW Motorsport shops around you which could offer advice in running a higher comp motor, etc. But that’s getting a motor built which isn’t cheap.

Yeah I figured as much. These M44's are to whimpy. Im going the midnight tuning route pretty soon. But if I can gain like another 5hp somehow would be nice. I have looked into underdrive pulleys, and found a nice looking kit. Might be getting that soon too.

With supporting mods you could get 5 real hp. Which pulley kit are you looking at.

So midnights reflash adds 18hp, and Id still like another +5 on top of that.

I don’t think that pulley kit fits the M44. Midnight tune is good but I am skeptical it adds 18hp. Are there dyno sheets? Is that without supporting mods?

I found this kit too. Im not sure if he has dyno results. But I've heard others speak very highly of his work and they say its well worth it. His post doesnt mention additional mods, just a plug and play ECU reflash, and 91 fuel required.
