Almost all of the numbered door clip holders on my passenger side are missing. I tried to order them from the dealer but they had no idea what I was talking about and ordered me a bunch or the little white door clips instead. What do you call these things, where do you get them? What's the best way to deal with these things? __________________ I always tighten them before I loosen em, that's a trick that my father taught me. | | | 01-27-2009, 08:40 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | They are not available unless you buy the entire door panel. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-27-2009, 08:42 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Phoenix AZ Posts: 121 | Are you kidding me that's ridiculous! __________________ I always tighten them before I loosen em, that's a trick that my father taught me. | | | 01-27-2009, 08:43 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Land of the Vikings Posts: 2,700 | its true the black plastic holders for the clips are part of the door card __________________ Vin Number decode and Retrofit Pdfs Available Free ! What about other alternatives, has anyone had any luck fabing them up out of aluminum sheet or something like that? I can't believe I have to buy a whole new door pannle just because these things are gone. Does someone know of a decent BMW junk yard I could get some from? __________________ I always tighten them before I loosen em, that's a trick that my father taught me. | | | 01-27-2009, 09:06 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Land of the Vikings Posts: 2,700 | thats defiinately the way to go. get any old doorcard for a Ti , and remove / replace the fittings as necessary.. problem is, they are a bitch to glue so they stick __________________ Vin Number decode and Retrofit Pdfs Available Free ! It is very hard to get them to stick. I have tried several adhesives. Sometimes it works but they come off again especially when you have to take the door panel back off. Good luck. __________________ custom dual exhaust,M3 front and rear bumper, 10.4 inch roof mount drop screen, Viper alarm system, DSII's rims, M3 Vader Seats, M3 Mirrors, Carbon Fiber CAI, Smoked Corners, Side Markers, Leatherz armrests, black grilles 225k miles and still the Ti goes on | | | 01-27-2009, 10:41 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: Regensburg, Germany Posts: 584 | Quote: Originally Posted by Will'sBimmer True. On my door panel, the numbered tab broke away from the blob of factory glue on the door panel. So reglued it to the blob. I hear hot melt glue works, but this is what I did and I know works. | | | 01-28-2009, 01:43 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: Northern Michigan Posts: 867 | I used a 2 part, 5 minute epoxy. It's G/5 Gougeon from west Systems. No problems so far. You really have to be careful in that they must go back on the exact spots. Each platform is different and when you have a pile of them removed, it's not fun to get them glued up and find you have one facing the wrong way or better yet one in a different spot.,.....,,.,. how's about that for a run- on,,.../?? __________________ [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] | | | 01-28-2009, 02:21 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by dgroebl Are you kidding me that's ridiculous! | How do you loose them? __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 01-28-2009, 04:22 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | i used gorilla glue and they stayed on even after taking the panel off a couple times. just make sure the surface is clean and slightly roughed up __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 01-28-2009, 04:40 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Phoenix AZ Posts: 121 | I just bought the car a month or two ago and when the passenger side window track took a dump on me I discovered that I only have two of them. I hate to put things back together that way so I'm searching for an alternative. I was thinking that perhaps I might be able to some how use Velcro. I know that sounds janky but I've had good experience with it before in a similar application. __________________ I always tighten them before I loosen em, that's a trick that my father taught me. | | | 01-28-2009, 07:49 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: Memphis, Tn Posts: 1,299 | Well the Velcro would hold together. I would only be worried about the weight of the door panel on the Velcro. But I guess with the two screws also in place that Velcro would work just fine. __________________ custom dual exhaust,M3 front and rear bumper, 10.4 inch roof mount drop screen, Viper alarm system, DSII's rims, M3 Vader Seats, M3 Mirrors, Carbon Fiber CAI, Smoked Corners, Side Markers, Leatherz armrests, black grilles 225k miles and still the Ti goes on | | | 01-28-2009, 09:09 PM | #15 | Z3 Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Usa Posts: 660 | Last edited by Bozola; 01-31-2011 at 03:13 PM. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
