What kind of gas mileage do you get in your ti? How does it vary from city to highway driving? Does the M44 get better or worse than the M42? Lastly, what were the EPA's original mileage ratings for the ti? Thanks to all... | | | 02-04-2005, 05:26 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Posts: 153 | I typically get high 20's, it really depends on how "spirited" my driving is. I live 16miles from my office and it is almost completely city driving. There are a couple of stretches of highway but they are pretty short. My best tank (driving very conservatively and primarily freeway) was just shy of 32mpg. But mid to upper 20's is common. __________________ 1998 318ti M-Sport - Jet Black w/Millpoint RedBlack interior Pics & Info here... | | | 02-04-2005, 05:48 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Fort Collins, CO Posts: 1,305 | I average about 28 or so mpg on mostly highway but when I get off I tend to get excited so that's why my average isn't more. The original window sticker for my car says something like 25 city and i know it's 32 highway. I have the m44 in my 97 | | | 02-04-2005, 06:24 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Minneapolis Posts: 1,587 | 96 Automatic - 112,000 miles average is about 26 MPG | | | 02-04-2005, 03:09 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2004 Location: Marietta, GA Posts: 124 | 97 manual, an average of 380 mi per 14 gal = 27.14 mpg APPROX | | | 02-04-2005, 07:40 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: cary, nc Posts: 2,259 | 19-20 MPG '95 318ti __________________ 1995 318ti Active Pioneer Speakers [] Aluminum Billet door locks [] ACS Pedals/Deadrest [] ACS Shift Knob / E-Brake Handle [] Clear Corners/Tails/Sides [] Sylvania Exterior Lighting [] Custom CAI [] Dinan Engine Chip [] Dinan Transmission Chip [] H&R Race Springs [] Tokico Illumina Shocks [] BMW X-Brace [] Relocated Lighter Mod [] Custom iPod Mod http://www.cardomain.com/id/robcarync | | | 02-05-2005, 03:39 AM | #7 | Junior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Posts: 7 | y do i only get like 16 mpg's...something sounds fishy | | | 02-05-2005, 03:49 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Minneapolis Posts: 1,587 | Quote: Originally Posted by seala8 y do i only get like 16 mpg's...something sounds fishy | Yeah, that's not good. I used to get about 30mpg. Did a 3.73 lsd swap and am at about 26-27 now. Rob 19-20 sounds pretty low even if you're hammering on it all day. 16 is WAAAAY low. I'd check into some serious maintenance. Plugs, wires, check everything. __________________ Vince Carknard 1995 318ti Active Hellrot, 16" 5 spoke, "Fogged" airbox mod, Stromung exhaust, Bilstein Sports, BMW sport springs, 3.73lsd, others... | | | 03-07-2005, 08:45 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: Essex UK Posts: 164 | Well I know you all use funny little gallons over there, but it still sounds kinda low to me, I get around 36mpg......imperial of course! I have new plugs, O2 sensor, tires and belts, all in the last 6 months. So the milage should have been better now. My work is only 7 miles one way and most of it is freeway. __________________ ***SOLD***The Ultimate Dying Machine!!!
