Default How does the A/C compressor work?

My A/C ran just fine last summer. I wrecked in the winter but I don't think it hit
anything A/C related. This summer my A/C doesn't work at all. My A/C compressor
never spins. I thought it was supposed to engage and spin when the A/C is turned
on, correct?

The pressure has to be high enough for it to spin. Make sure you have the right pressure of coolant. There are sensors that will deactivate the compressor if it's too low to run safely.

I tried pushing the center of the A/C line "valve stems" like I do on my other car
to release a "psss" of pressure but it seems different on my 318ti. What the
most simple way to check for pressure? I didn't see any severed lines but I do
want to check that.

It's the same... use a thin flat head screwdriver.

Take note that the compressor is the heart of your a/c system. It takes the gas and pressurizes it so it will cool the air. Remember that stuff was run by an engine belt. It thus eradicate the heat from the exterior air. Check this out for more www.blurtit.com/q612046.html.
