This project was recently done, since the old setup was just clamping together and had a small leak. Did run the first setup for the summer though, so finally had the time to do a better setup and better sound. And since I'm in love with my stromung too much over the Borla, I thought of keeping it.
The process to for a single tip still on the 318ti.
1. Get a y-pipe from local stores. Got mine from Autozone. Part #10748 31.99$
2. Get an exhaust adapter from 2/12 to 2inch. Went with 2inch because my Stromung for the 318ti was a 2".
3.Cut the back piece of the 318ti exhaust to maybe 4-5 inches. And make sure it sits flush with the y-pipe.
3 1/2 Well, this project was a rush because I had to go to the cities for a meeting, so I quickly did this the day before and finally got it to fit! But not the way I wanted it because my y-pipe wasn't flat so one side was hanging too low, so i fabricated the whole thing again! Finally decided to do a catalytic converter and resonator delete and went with straight piping!
4.
**recommended**non-smog test states Remove catalytic converter & resonators.
5. Go to local stores (Fleet & Farm) to get two 2 inch braided/flex pipes and on the curve before the cat, put in there.
6. Get two 12 inches of 2" inch pipes to connect the flex pipes to the 2" inlet of the y-pipe for like 5-8$ and cut to size.
7. Weld everything and the mounts should be bolt in!
8. **additional* Sand and get an header paint to paint yours like mine!
Doesn't sound too loud at all like every straight piping because the stromung exhaust isn't that loud of a pipe. Goodluck!
**hardest part was to line the flanges up with the header. Spent plenty of hours on this fabricating in the parking lot. #DIYasFCK
***sorry for my noob welding. just started a month ago with a flux-core from harbor freight.
