Default LED Retrofit Setup

Hey guys,

I've been experimenting with a bunch of LED options for different lights (exterior, ie. brake lights, turn signals, backup lights, etc.) because I read a study that shows LED lighting for brake lights and signal lights ends up saving lives. You can read the study here: http://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstr...45/1/84696.pdf

Basically, LED's have near-instantaneous emission creating very quick reaction times. Incandescent lights (standard ones) have to heat up to create light, slowing the process down considerably.

Anyway, through some of my trade contacts in China, I am going to try to put together a LED package for replacing all of the lights.

This includes front and rear turn signals, rear brake light, 3rd brake light, backup lights, and tail lights.

Obviously, I want to use the best product available, in terms of brightness. The signals will need either load resistors or a new relay-- not sure what the most cost effective approach will be yet, but I expect to have a whole conversion kit available at the end pretty cheap. I want to gauge some interest first.

Who would be interested in a LED conversion kit for their exterior lights? Once I get my samples I will take some pictures/videos so you guys can see what they actually look like.

I should be able to put together kits for cars with both amber and clear corners. The lights to be replaced: 6x w5w/T10 3rd brake light bulbs, 4x 1157 turn signal, 2x 1157 brake light, 2x 1156 tail light, 2x BAY15S backup light. Two to four load resistors would also be necessary.

So total: 16 lights and 2-4 resistors, so it will probably be around $60-80 for a total conversion including shipping. This is a pretty conservative estimate price wise and I'm aiming for $60 max. Obviously the more people interested, the lower the price could be. Only the highest quality components would be used (ie. at least 1w brake lights, etc).

So who would be interested in this?

So you're replacing bulbs with LED's, thereby not requiring any other hardware changes, e.g. the corner light housings, correct? If that's the case, I'm interested.

BTW, keep in mind the "double brake light" mod and have an option to get an extra pair of LED's for those. :-)
