a turbo build can be done for 2-3 grand, but your going to need to do a lot more research before you tackel the project

You don't have to relocate the coil. I am planning a turbo build as well, and as far as I can tell, you just need to run the manifold straight forward. Either relocate or discard the washer fluid reservoir, ditch the plastic shrouding over the radiator and get a much thinner fan. There is really a plethora of space up front. I wouldn't put a whole lot of boost on the stock motor, but I plan on building mine, starting with an M47 crank and custom rods and pistons at 9:1.

not to bring this back from the dead but me and a buddy are doing a turbo install on my 318ti this weekend . the turbo will be under the car ( its a 14b small for a reason) at the down pipe flange . for the time being we will use exhaust pipeing for charge pipes ( i work for midas lol gotta love haveing a bender ) its gatted at 7psi but we are going to drop it to 5 or 6 psi , run the oil line off the sender in back of the oil filter and the return tapped into the oil pan my battery already has been relocated to the trunk so we will run the charge pipes where the battery was sitting . now running such a small turbo it will spool and be at full boost around 3000rpm and well im all about geting side ways im not to worried about it ill post some pics when its finnished

you should list the parts used and where you were able to get them from in case there are other members here wanting to do the same.
i hear its difficult building a turbo system thats finely tunned correctly for the M44/2.
But good luck. post pics along the way if you can.

doing a custom turbo kit is a lot of parts... I know it, I have all now

T3 60 trim .48/.60, Neukin manifold, internal WG from a volvo, PCIII and 36lbs inj, 330d intercooler, neukin catch can, TRM oil lines, 2.5" ID turbo inlet pipe, 2" ID charge pipe... really a lot of things...
to me it was hard to have them because I'm in Europe and turbo here isn't diffused on petrol engines like in USA. But now I have all parts, need only a flex section for the exhaust, but don't know when I'll install all... I need to tap the oil pan, and that is the thing that scare me now, because I want to do without dropping it

I can tell FWIW that Neukin manifold is bulletproof, not like the ones from ebay.. this is really thick metal It weight a bit more that stock header, but who care!
