Quinn, my cat is pretty crappy yet I still manage ~33mpg (mostly highway), as you know, I'm waiting for it to implode one of these days.
Haha yeah Dave, you better be careful, it'll happen when you least want it to!

Yeah I have no idea what the deal is. IMO 10% ethanol wouldn't lower mpgs by 10! (and you're right, we've had the lovely stuff for some time already)

Copied this off a website:

Some of the symptoms of a bad O2 sensor are fluctuating fuel economy. One you get 30 MPG and then it drops drastically, later it’s not so bad and then goes down again. There can be other problems, but a roller coaster ride involving fuel economy can indicate a faulty O2 sensor. Poor drivability, jerky acceleration or loss of power can all be O2 sensor related.

28-29 city? Holy crap how do you do it? I can barely get 20mpg with my airfilter recharged, MAF cleaned, and I'm now using a feather to step on my gas pedal instead of my lead foot.

If you are truly driving the way you describe and getting that poor of mileage I would assume there is something wrong with the car. Go to Autozone or where ever and get it scanned for codes.

Free scan codes as mentioned, Are you loosing coolant? aka is it disappearing? Maybe the HG is starting to weep, seems that M4X cars loose HG's often so might want to consider doing a coolant system check.

Coolant doesn't burn well...so mileage will decrease. Worth a shot to look.

Keep leaning towards CAT & O2 sensors. I replaced my rear sensor, only to have it go bad shortly after, because the CAT was going bad.

In other words, the CAT was the real problem, and it causes the rear sensor to go bad. Eventually, the CAT REALLY started going bad (falls apart inside), and I lost all power. When that happens, you better get a CAT immediately.

What do you guys think about a bad Cat? It seems a little down on power, and I'm not sure if the Cat was changed recently.

I'll get it checked out tomorrow. Keep in mind, I have a replaced engine.
