Glad you were able to get it back together, I know it is a bummer when you spend hours only to come up a bit short completing the job.
Look around the oil filter housing for the leak?

thanks man. that was the biggest project ever and would hate to have to do it again because of a gasket again or something. 6 days and ~40 hours later

the oil filter housing is spot dry hah

i dried up as much as i could and just let it run at operating temp for a little bit and drove forward and backward slowly just for the engine to get warm without making any oil moving too much down there around but checked all where i wiped and it was dry...so i guess the car needs to be driving to have it coming out well. ill check tomorrow after taking it out for about 20 minutes and look again.

So looks like everything below the head gasket is covered in oil after drying and driving.

Do you think you miss alighted the headgasket on the Valve cover when you reinstalled the valve cover?
The only other thing that comes to mind is the smaller gasket that sets in front the cylinder head if I recall correctly it was two pieces?

Yes, in the diagrams that I have seen that gasket at the front of valve cover looks like it is tricky to install.
