OK, so I did a headgasket replacement put everything back together, car was cranking and turning but no starting (it did once for about 3 seconds) then found out that the fuel pump was not starting then change the fuel pump relay with a new one. However prior changing the fuel pump relay I took the relay next to the fuel pump out and made the mistake of trying to start then realise and put the relay back and the new one and I had this continuous beep in the car. Since the battery was also low I connected a charger and the beep went away, then I started the car and the harness started to burn and I stopped immediately as you can see it burned and I will need a new harness but want to know if I plugged something wrong. Also I'm sure I will need a fuel pump since I did not heard the pump coming on, on this last try Last edited by amcink; 08-31-2015 at 02:41 AM. | | | 08-31-2015, 01:05 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Jax, FL Posts: 541 | classic swapped relay with incorrect relay = melted ground. A few of us in this forum have performed this "mod". My advice, get a new wire harness from a salvaged M44 | | | 08-31-2015, 06:38 PM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Aug 2015 Location: California Posts: 4 | Quote: Originally Posted by Shellback classic swapped relay with incorrect relay = melted ground. My advice, get a new wire harness from a salvaged M44 | Shellback Thank you for the response; however is it just because I messed up on swapping the wrong relay? I just want to make sure I understand it to avoid it in the future. I was thinking of just replacing the burned wires or is it a bad idea?
