Default back left brake line has a pinhole in it

My question is on the back left there is a 6 in looks like plastic line that has a pinhole and is spraying brake fluid. My son was driving it for the first time 16 yr old driver and I told him to stop on the brakes to see how it reacts and the low fluid light came on and brake went to the floor. No damage except for the line is spraying all over the place called BMW and the said it was a 40.00 part and up to 400 labor due to if they have to flush the system a couple times?? The 6 in plastic is crippled on both ends. BMW is 2.5 hrs away and I would have to tow it there. Just wanted to know if this is safe or just have it done by BMW? thanks Mark

I found a site to buy it 200 mm line. Now hard is it to bleed brakes on a TI?

I wouldn't drive it.

Is brake fluid flammable?
I'd also be concerned about air getting into the ABS and running it.

I'm pretty comfortable with flushing brake fluid, but this is one time I'd want the dealer to cycle the ABS while flushing the brake fluid.

you can cycle your own abs pump by jumping the relay., I wouldn't worry too much about air getting into the ABS unless your abs engaged.

Thanks for the input. I think it is not a time to be cheap. I will have BMW tow and fixed. Thanks for the info. We have only had to change brakes and oil and air filters change on both my TIs. The whole time we have had them. Great cars for the boys. Both of them are Hellrot Red. Thanks again Mark.

You probably also want to wash off any brake fluid that got sprayed anywhere. That stuff is wicked corrosive and will eat through paint.

that was true with older paint, newer paint will just be damaged but it won't be stripped off, at least that's what my auto tech teacher told me, I haven't tested it or anything

still a good idea to wipe it off
