I'm keeping my 95 318ti forever. Right now I have 267k miles on the engine and still running strong! | | | 09-16-2017, 04:32 PM | #78 | Member Join Date: Sep 2017 Location: Los Angeles Posts: 50 | Can these still be ordered? I'm a bit lost on this thread.... | | | 09-18-2017, 05:56 PM | #79 | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2017 Location: SLT, CA Posts: 1 | This is just what I was looking for and sounds better than I hoped for. I'm building a 318Ti track/race car. It is fully stripped with a full cage and will not be on the street. I have the engine and drivetrain from a 2001 E36/8 Mcoupe. I'm hoping that I can use the M Coupe wiring harness. In any case, I only need engine/abs/fuel pump and OBDII wiring (and brake lights and wipers). Mostly interested in knowing what I don't need and ideas about how to mount the electronic modules and also keep the ECU happy, with no trouble codes. I'll be running race exhaust and getting the ECU flashed. I don't think i need to run cats in that case. Please put me on the list for the book when it comes out. I would also appreciate the complete wiring diagram, if it is not in the book. Posts: 3,156 | Long overdue update here: My editor started a new job and as of September end had not touched it... Anyway , I have taken matters into my own hands again and am about 1/3 through the final edit. I will be doing all I can to keep on schedule but I wanted to quickly let everybody know what was going on with it. I’m not happy about it. I wanted outside eyes to check it over for me. So it probably won’t be as good as I had hoped as a proper book- but it has a ton more info than the last version and hopefully I streamlined and made it an easier document to digest. The last version jumped around a bit and I’ve tried to correct that as best I could. So, we are still “on” and still on schedule. I think in a week or two I’ll be ready to print. At that point I’ll update again, confirm the count, possibly collect preorder monies, and set a firm (I’d be at the mercy of the printer so I’ll be as accurate as possible) date for delivery. | | | 10-28-2017, 05:10 AM | #82 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2017 Location: La Center Posts: 4 | Hi, I'm a new member, and apparently I am not able to send PM's yet. I want to be on the list for a book please. I am going to be swapping a ti in the future and would love to read about it beforehand. A bit late due to loosing my editor, but this morning I completed yet another run-through of my manual. It is now 321 pages of goodness. Still need to update the TOC and check photo numbering, but otherwise it's ready. I will be working out the count (color and B&W pages for printing estimate) and generate a new costing structure. Maybe it will be the same but I have to make sure. Then I will have a quote from the print house with estimated lead time. I am posting this to re-evaluate the demand on the manual. I think the original predicted ~25 copies will be exceeded, which is fine. The more I make the less per copy they cost. Therefore, with the added pages, it may still be the original estimated cost. BOTTOM LINE: I need to get an updated count on those interested. I know many expressed interest here but it has been far too long since I started this, and I want to double-check, because again, the number originally printed will impact the per-copy price. I want to be fair to everyone but at the same time I can't afford to have a pile of unsold books in my house! And I want to have a quote before Thursday if at all possible, so if you get this notice, pleas let me know! Saying "no thanks" is perfectly fine too! Thanks to everyone for their continued support and technical contributions that made this possible! And special thanks to Steve for keeping this site alive for current and future Ti owners! | | | 11-20-2017, 04:46 PM | #84 | Junior Member Join Date: Jul 2017 Location: Salt Lake City Posts: 20 | Count me in. Let me know if you need a prepay if that helps with initial cost. Posts: 3,156 | Yes, in case it wasn't clear, pre-payment is required to secure your copy from the initial run. I will probably have a few 'extra' in the first run depending on how close the pre-pay list is to the volume break (they break in some increment and I'm not sure what that is right now). For example, if it is a 12-unit break, and I have 22 confirmed, I'll have two available after the initial order is filled. Then, moving forward, I will stock a small volume (which cost more per copy) to be sold at regular cover price. Those won't be signed by me either. They will also be advertised on eBay at that time as well. But the community here gets first copies, signed by me, at a discounted price when pre-ordered. So, if you know you want one, get in on the 'early bird' deal, and save a few bucks. The up-side is, it is a product with a history of being worth it. And, with the added information and enhancements, even more so. EDIT=> Here's some stats on the book: Total (8-1/2 X 11) pages: 321 Color pages: 178 B&W pages: 143 Over 150 full color photos (139 numbered, some of those are doubles; many more product photos and full color diagrams and charts) 24 is the minimum number I can order. Cost will be $55 each + shipping. I will use Media Mail and the up-charge for multiple copies should not be much. I am estimating shipping to be around $5 but don't know for sure yet. This also assumes the shipping from the printer to me is included, which I don't have confirmed yet. If I get 50 or more confirmed orders the cost will drop $3 per copy. Not much but it's something... I will continue to update as we progress on this.
