Talking VINEGAR ENGINE FLUSH WORKS GREAT !

I drive a 1997 Z3 1.5L.

I was surprised when researching vinegar for an engine flush that no one had even performed a test.

I used my old water pump http://www.318ti.org/forum/images/attach/jpg.gif and a beer can filled with water so it didn’t float and placed them into a plastic jug overnight. I filled the jug with vinegar diluted 1/3 with water. The experiment was successful. It did a wonder job turning the slug on the old water pump into silt. The beer can was not affected. http://www.318ti.org/forum/images/attach/jpg.gif

I put the old radiator in place and finished with all of my electrical and hose connections. The interior heater was set to its hottest position. I put in my diluted vinegar solution and the engine fired up with no indicators on the console.

I ran the engine until the fan kicked on and waited another 15 minutes before shutting it down. The next morning I placed a tub from Home Depot under the car. The tubs are used to mix up small batches of mortar. I use it regularly for de-greasing mechanical parts.

I used a 13mm wrench to loosen the nut to drain the coolant. Silt came out of the drain. http://www.318ti.org/forum/attachmen...1&d=1405267001

I flushed the system with water until it was clear. Of course I had to put the plug back, disassemble the components to remove the fan and old radiator install the new one. http://www.318ti.org/forum/images/icons/icon10.gif

Any questions ?

The vinegar was diluted 1/3 with water

Interesting reading. So did you empty the coolant then add the 1/3 2/3 mix of water/vinegar? the result looks interesting.

My question is you cannot drain the vinegar completely out from the engine if just drain from the radiator drain plug. The water (coolant) in the heater core too. I am wondering if left some amount of vinegar in the engine, could harm in the long run?
