Default Failed my first smog test....

My 1600 never required a smog test in CA, so I took the ti for my first smog test ever today. It only failed one category!

HC @ 25 mph (2095 rpm): Max: 35, Meas: 82.

Also my CO % was very close

CO% @ 25 mph: Max: .33, Meas: .30

Happy to say that the NO numbers were well near the averages. The tech said that I just need a tune up; spark plugs, wires, etc. I just did the spark plugs 4000 miles ago, and just got an oil change 2000 miles ago. Air filter looks relatively clean. Before I did the test I made sure to get on the freeway and rev it up pretty high.

What do you guys recommend to do in order to pass?

Thanks!

After researching all last night it looks like I should do spark plug wires, but I'm not sure what else.

Merry xmas to those celebrating too! I'll be here eating Chinese food and watching movies.

Good luck with the test the next time you take it. Here in Texas we have safety inspections, but no smog tests. Saw, "The Wolf of Wall Street" last night in a theater. A good movie, but I don't think that I would take a date to it. John
