Tough Decision...What Would You Do?

So my dilema begins. As some of you know, i currently drive a m42 95' ti. I love my ti, my favorite car. I have done a few things, Short Shifter Kit, Cold Air...Nothing to expensive or anything. I had plans to DASC, and i have a lot of money put away for it.
As of today, i was offered a 96ti. This TI has nearly the same amount of miles (less than mine), is in as good of condition, and is completey stock. BUt as most of you know, it has the m44...
I was offered this car for 3,500 dollars. My mother and father want my TI and are willing to buy the 96 for me, if i give them my 95.
My decision is...
Do i go through the time with short shifters, fixing small problems on the 96 (window regulators, needs brakes).
With the M42 i cannot use ECU as well, and the dasc could be a biut more of a problem to control. THe M44 is more made for tuning and is def a better engine.

So do i go through the trouble and get the 96, or keep my 95 and stick it out with the m42. remember, i lose no money in this situation, except for the fact that i might have to do a diff. short shifter. My paretns get the good deal cause they paid 4,500 for mine and only 3,500 for the new. Have a field day guys, tell me what you think!

If the m42 is so much better (m42 is 95 correct) why dont they make anything that works for it? they make a ton more **** for the m44 based on the fact that they are better engines i thought. WHy doenst NickG make a tune for the m42 then?

if I could, I'd have the m42, I don't like the limits of OBD2 on my car/upgrade path.

Plus the m42 internals are stronger.

They make plenty of things that work for it. I never hand any problem finding what I want.

NickG does mostly OBD-II stuff not OBD-I.

Like andyman said M42 has much better internals.

M42 is a better motor period.

Obd II is just easier to reverse engineer because it HAS to do certain things to be OBDII compliant. BMW releases nothing about their EFI systems. Same as Porsche. Most people find it easier to Motec a 911 than screw with porsche's stock ECU.
