I would agree and even with that price if some other issue does come up your not totally screwed. Id be a little worried about the high millage. If the motor sound healthy and the seller has service records id feel better. Just something to be aware of. That head gasket could be on its way out... or not. These are good motors if taken care of. If that rumble comes from the exhaust it might be a bad cat or lose clamps and hangers. The driver skirt is lose might be worth asking whats up with that. Never know if the car was in a minor accident or hopped a curb. worth asking though... could just be a busted clip.

That's a good deal and probably a cat is all you need to fix the emissions and my first ti had 230000 and then my current ti has 207000 and runs like a champ

Sounds like a fair deal.
I'd venture to say you could get it fixed-up and ready to pass emissions...sell it for a nice little profit. Then buy something new for your current ti.

Thanks for the replies! I was planning to offer $1500, my only concern at the moment is being able to drive it home. It's about 65 miles away and I'm not sure if it will start overheating.

I am selling a rare 1998 BMW 318ti California edition for $ 1700. I used this car to commute so the mileage is high 200,000+ miles on it. It has an oil leak, the radiator fan has stopped working very recently, some rumble sound upon acceleration, does not pass smog, and the exterior is decent shape the paint still shines. This car will be good for the person that has time to restore this car. It starts right up and is drivable. twozero9-8fivefive-zero6seven0.

Worried because of the radiator fan? Shouldn't be an issue if you don't get stuck in traffic.

Cali's are neat, but I would be worried about having to replace the top at some point. . .~$1k, AFAIK.

You will be fine, even w/o the clutch fan it still takes a while to overheat. As long as you dont go in rush hour you wont sit long enough.
