Default Ski Rack

Hello,

I did a prelim search and did not come up with any postings on ski racks. I did see kayak and bike rack postings. Hence, the question.....

What would be a good roof rack to carry snow skis?

Thanks!

i have the modular factory rack with two sets of ski attachments (8 pairs of skis, i don't know why that many) and a bike attachment. I've also taken everything off to put a surfboard on it. It works really well and I've seen them for sale before but obviously, they're pretty hard to find. I don't even think yakima or thule still make racks for the ti (although i could be wrong) so I think you might just have to search for a used one until you get lucky. good luck!

according to thule:

ROOF MOUNT SYSTEM BASE PRODUCT 400xt Aero Foot | LB50 Load Bars | 225 Fit Kit - $249

then you can get various ski racks.

if i remember correctly, yakima listed nothing for the ti/compact.

Last I remember there was a problem finding the fit kits. Try calling Thule directly, they're in CT.

EDIT: Also, scour ebay for the bars, feet, etc. They're much cheaper there.

I will. Thanks! Thule seems to showing availability on their website for the specific set that Cali-ti mentioned. I think I am going to make the call.

EDIT: were you able to call thule and confirm those are the correct parts? it's what their website indicated for my 96 ti, but it's always nice to confirm

I have the thule bars, and a 225 kit.

Not sure if there's a big difference with the aero feet, but I got the entire setup with the fairing for under $200 locally.

ebay they go for about half that.

here's a factory rack on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-3...spagenameZWDVW

It doesn't come with ski attachments but I have an extra set of them I can sell to you for pretty cheap if you want them. They're in storage now though.
