Just wondering how you all have approached holding the ends on the rubber in place. The ends stay down reasonably well but not as well as I'd like. Also I know that over time the rubber shrinks, as it did on several previous ti's. Has anyone tried gluing the ends to prevent these little annoyances. If so with what, weatherstrip adhesive, silicone windshield sealant, anything out of the ordinary? Thanks in advance... -ian | | | 11-09-2006, 01:30 AM | #2 | Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: NorthEast Posts: 91 | Ian, My problem..the ends were coming off. I used a silicon based sealant about 5 mos ago. Bought it at Auto Zone. It back fired on me. It did not stick well at all, and it created a mess. Now, I will attribute the shody job to my ineptness when it comes to working on cars. Also, I did it while it was quite hot outside. That might have played a part in it. I intend on replacing the entire weather stripping pretty soon. Sorry, I am not of much help. Just wanted to share my "what not to do" with ya. Good Luck! P.S. How much and where did you get you strip from? Thanks! | | | 11-09-2006, 02:03 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Saint Louis, MO Posts: 143 | get it from the dealer, it's about $16 list, part #51 31 8 146 233 | | | 11-09-2006, 03:01 AM | #4 | Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: NorthEast Posts: 91 | Quote: Originally Posted by iananderson02 get it from the dealer, it's about $16 list, part #51 31 8 146 233 | Thanks! | | | 11-09-2006, 05:07 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: cary, nc Posts: 2,259 | same thing happened to me...used silicon glue stuff and it made a mess and didnt stick good :-( __________________ 1995 318ti Active Pioneer Speakers [] Aluminum Billet door locks [] ACS Pedals/Deadrest [] ACS Shift Knob / E-Brake Handle [] Clear Corners/Tails/Sides [] Sylvania Exterior Lighting [] Custom CAI [] Dinan Engine Chip [] Dinan Transmission Chip [] H&R Race Springs [] Tokico Illumina Shocks [] BMW X-Brace [] Relocated Lighter Mod [] Custom iPod Mod http://www.cardomain.com/id/robcarync | | | 11-18-2006, 04:24 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Saint Louis, MO Posts: 143 | anyone have any success with this? | | | 11-18-2006, 08:47 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | 3M Trim adhesive would be the better choice, apply with a very small brush. Havn't tried it on mine yet. Was going to buy the new strip first...
