Default I had a Ti... Once

I finally return. Yes, I miss posting on here and reading other posts. The deal is that I work too much, sold my Ti (had it for many years) and got an E39 528i so this is why I have been away.

Do I regret selling my Ti??? YES!!! Though it was a little underpowered, it is almost a perfect vehicle. Come to think of it, the power is really the only issue I had (before adding kids). I want my Ti back, but need to keep the 528i (kids). life's hard sometimes... My point... GET A Ti!!!

Sad to hear that you are going thru the early phases of ti withdrawal syndrome. So fix it now before it get much worse.

Once in the cult, always in the cult.

Used Ti's are very affordable.

Werd. Shocking for those of us who overpaid back in the day, but then again if I sold mine just to get into a cheaper one I'd lose money and mine is solid. But with all the spare parts I have around (red millpoint interior, 3.45 LSD, Konis, Rouge RSM's, H&R's, 17" style 18's, 2 pc BBS style 42's) I could take a scrapper and have a nice car in a weekend!

Default The Cure for Missing a 318ti

I did too, but sold it four years ago and missed having one. So what was the answer? What else - get another one! I'm set to pick it up a week from Saturday (7/11). It's a '96 Base, with 72K miles (yes, I said 72K). It's going to be a long week.

Oh no, too late now I find out I joined a cult! I'm buying one too and to be honest this thread went a long way toward persuading me. If you are still missing a car after all that time and then go get another one, you know it has to be good.

Default Got It!

It was a long drive, but the '96 ti is home. It's in great shape, low miles, one owner. There are a few niggling things needing attention (sagging headliner, new thermostat, wheel hub emblems, hatch struts, good detail job), but it runs very well and doesn't appear to have any mechanical issues, or none that reared their ugly head in the 400+ mile drive. I'm a happy guy.

Hey congratulations! My son is going out to Cali this week to pick mine up. Anything he should keep an eye on for the 1000 mile drive? I mean anything peculiar to the Ti other that temps, oil, tires, etc.? It's going to be a long wait and he has to visit family there so I must be patient, grasshopper. So enjoy your ride and soon I'll be posting mine on here too. What kind of gas mileage did you get?

Good luck with your ti. You've about hit the hot buttons on what to look for - just make sure that it's had a recent change of fluids. It would also help if he took an extended ride in it to evaluate all of the functions. Even though I gave the seller a non-refundable deposit, I was willing to walk away from it if I saw anything that I didn't like before I signed on the dotted line. I'd make sure that he keeps his eye on the guages so that if anything shows up he can react. I would also caution him to take it easy on it for a while until he feels comfortable that all is working well. I kept the speed between 60 - 65 for a couple hundred miles just to be sure all was OK. I was fortunate that mine was a low-mileage, one-owner car, so it was / is in pretty top shape.

The mileage was about 36 mpg without A/C and 35 with.

Again - good luck!

Default Refurbishment Done!

After an injection of some $$ (belts, thermostat, rear brakes, hatch struts, new rear speakers, etc.) and a full detailing, my '96 is, at least for the time being, done. She's great looking and drives nicely. I'm a happy guy. More pics to follow.
