You only have to swap the foam and the leather, not the entire seat. In the process, I installed the lumbar in the passenger seat, and the wiring for it. I'll post pics of the inside of the seat, so you can see the lumbar system. __________________ 1998 (July) 318ti, 5-spd OEM Armrest Blaupunkt Heidelberg CD50 CD Player/Compact Drive MP3 Player Diamond Audio 5.25" rear speakers Navman ICN 530 GPS BMWALARM.COM (with comfort settings) after market alarm system Magnecor 8.5mm wires M-Z3 Shifter/Momo Knob Burlwood Dashboard Stromung Exhaust X-brace Racing Dynamics Front Strut Bar Carbonio C.A.I. 17" Rial Rims Vader Seats/Heated/Lumbar Support M-tech Steering Wheel/Front Sway Bar/Front & Rear Bumper Depos/w 6500K Angel Eyes/6000K HIDs Clear Corners M3 Mirrors UUC Light Weight Flywheel/M5 Clutch/M3 Clutch Slave E28 3.46 LSD/Mcoupe Cover/E30 Flanges & Halfshafts UUC S.S. What did you do about the openings in the leather for the rear-seat access handles? That's pretty cool about the lumbar support though! Mine are manually adjustable/heated vaders. No lumbar. My black vaders are pretty good, but I was thinking of spraying them with the leather spray to get rid of the lighter color coming through slightly on the bolsters. __________________ 1997 332ti - Don't even ask. 2006 330i - ZPP/ZSP/ZCW/6sp/Nav/BT/H&R Sport 2011 E92 M3 | | | 06-18-2007, 08:15 PM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: Scotland Posts: 17 | I didn't realise you could swap just the foam and leather. That gets around the problem of the driver's seat only having the folding handle on one side. Could you post any tips you have on getting the leather to detach and reattach? Thanks | | | 06-18-2007, 08:46 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Manassas, VA Posts: 4,129 | It's very simple. Remove the seats, then pry the lip of the leather off the back shell. The bottom is connected by two screws and two plastic pins. If you don't have heated seats, it's a breeze. Yeah, by leaving the shell/base of the seat the same, no problems with back seat handles or seat adjustments. Not hard to add lumbar support, if you want it. Quote: Originally Posted by larryn Swapped passenger to driver's side? I took a look at this today and the pins were brittle, they didn't really bend at all. I had some problems removing the seat back from the shell as well, I didn't want to force it too much. Maybe the sports seats are different internally from the vaders. | | | 07-02-2007, 12:03 AM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Manassas, VA Posts: 4,129 | If I recall, I broke the pins off way back when I first bought the seats. Just break them off and buy new ones before swapping. They cost nothing, and are easy to replace.
