M44s did not have that problem. There are some known problems. 1995-1997? had tape on the B pillars that peeled. The fix was to remove it or paint it black. The HVAC temp control sometmes go. Either a loose cable or bypass valve. Some of us had transmisson problems. Jumping out of gear. Most have had them fixed under warranty so my guess if it hasn't happened yet, they are good to go. There really aren;t any blatant problems with these cars. No more or less than any other E36. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 12-25-2003, 04:06 AM | #5 | Member Join Date: Dec 2003 Location: NC Posts: 36 | thanks steve...that definately helps. __________________ Trevor '88 Four-Eyed 'Fridge - '89 325is - '91 318is - '90 325is | | | 12-29-2003, 06:52 PM | #6 | Moderator Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Bouncing off the rev limiter in CT! Posts: 3,156 | I have the black tape on my '98 as well. Perhaps just the sports continued to use it??? BTW it's not peeling (yet). | | | 01-15-2004, 04:25 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: LA & Colo Spgs Posts: 210 | I've been applying a quality wax (like zymol) to the B-pillar tape since my car was new ~6 years ago. If you use a qualty wax that does not leave a residue, there is no discoloration and it seems to keep the tape from peeling. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it!!! | | | 01-16-2004, 07:26 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: MD/VA/DC Posts: 834 | you sould take a look at the wheel barings check if the stering wheel to feel if its lose, and grease to the parts i dont no what its called but they grease all the moveing components | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
