The drop is fairly moderate and the ride comfort varies (depending on road on conditions). I would stay this would be ideal for a dual purpose track/street car. The adjustability allows you fairly good amount of stiffness for the track but also allows you to drive the car across the country with a fairly comfortable ride. Here are some pics of the kit: Note that the red car has 255/40/17 tire all round and the black car has 245/40/17 rear and 225 front. The lower profile tires (black car) certainly gives the vehicle a different stance. My sig picture is the same H&R/Koni setup (full stiff) at the autoX no sway bar in the rear and a huge 28mm swaybar up front. If you like the ride height I would only suggest upgrading to 94-02 mustang rear shocks. They are externally adjustable from the top (no need to unbolt and compress the rears to adjust) and they are a bit stiffer. Manufacturer Part #: 8041-1186SPORT You will need a 12mm rear shock mount which TC Kline offers or bimmerworld (I have the bimmerworld ones) H&R Bilstein sports I had this setup on my wife's 318ti (my current daily driver) and it's awesome on the street. Very composed and great on the highway; well dampened (less jarring when compared the Konis on the softest settings). If the ride height was a bit higher (maybe 3/4 of a inch) it would be perfect for the street and occasional spirited driving. It was also very predictable on the track but a bit softer when compared to the Konis. Tires are 225/50/16 | | | 01-02-2010, 10:40 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | great post, the stance on the black car is what I'm looking for so I think I'll go with that kit (and try to find some 17"s ) Quote: Originally Posted by dahamler If you like the ride height I would only suggest upgrading to 94-02 mustang rear shocks. I'll most likely just order the kit and use the shocks in it but I'll keep your suggestion in mind if I decide to change them later for the adjustablity which rear shock mounts are you referring too? Bimmer World has 3 listed, but BWSport is the only one that specifies 12mm, just looking to clarify that those were the ones you meant | | | 01-02-2010, 10:50 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2007 Location: Monterey, CA Posts: 770 | Quote: Originally Posted by tiFreak great post, the stance on the black car is what I'm looking for so I think I'll go with that kit (and try to find some 17"s ) Ford parts on a BMW? blasphemy! You could probably piece it together for less. Tirerack has the kit for $889.00 but I thought they were having a 10% off sale. This is a cool find if so. | | | 01-05-2010, 12:36 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Globally Posts: 1,162 | TC Kline says they no longer start with a SN 95 chassis rear shock for the E30/Ti rear kit. I have had this set up years ago in my E30 with their initial DA front for the E30. They were great but damn they were expensive, also Koni did not honor modified units with a lift warranty as they say they are for race purpose. | | | 01-05-2010, 02:34 AM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2007 Location: Monterey, CA Posts: 770 | Quote: Originally Posted by gimp Are they the same compressed/extended lengths? I just bought the SA kit and the rear shocks were labeled with the PN listed above. I don't even have to jack up the car. Maybe takes an hour to adjust both, and that's with me moving slowly. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
