Default Opinions on HID in oem fogs.

Hey guys,

I have my kit and Im ready to roll with these things, just wanted some opinions and feedback on installing HID in a non-projector housing. Right now I have the stock Hella fog lights and I purchased a 35w 10k kit.

I know alot of e36 heads rig these up in non-pro fog housings....

Is it safe? worth it? Or just a bandwagon mod.

hate it? love it?

it is safe to use since HID are suppose to be less hotter than halogen bulbs.
with the non-projector type, the reflective types looks super bright from on-coming traffics.

in Japan, lots of people started to use in fog lights so they came up with 25W HIDs for fog light applications.

I have 35W 3k in my hella microDE fogs but they are projector type.
its brighter than before and wider beam so I only have fog lights on for city driving...rarely put on my headlights anymore

I would replace the fog lights to the projector types unless you want people honking at you for bright fogs!!
Good luck!

damn...i sure miss SoCal...used to be in Orange County

Yeah I probably will look at getting some projector fogs, but for now I will have to roll with the hella's.

I never use my fogs really, I was going to delete them but I decided to put HID in them mainly for looks and show only. As far as output they are 10k so more color than brightness....

thanks for your input cool-shi!

for looks and show only...then stick with the hellas!!
more attention with the 10K color...like deep bluish white right!?

I see lots of them here too!
very nice and cool

but here in Japan it rains alot compared to the sunny SoCal, so I went with the fog purposes so yellowish 3k was my choice.

Just wired them up today, the 10k looks real nice. Bluish/super white...Im pretty stoked that my low beam and fogs match pretty well.

As far as socal goes, summer is upon us and Im loving it! thanks again for the input. If you ever come down to visit us...maybe there will be a meet going on, always love to meet up w/ fellow ti owners.

Cheers!
