Does anyone have any good tips on how to bend a shift lever? i recently got a MZ3 lever from James here and need to bend it slightly to give it an original appearance. __________________

Yep.
That's what I was going to say.
Although that is generally how you do the linkage and not the lever itself.
It is risky, but wrap the bottom in a rag, clamp it in the vice and slide a piece of black iron pipe over the end of the shifter (where the ball goes) and apply steady pressure.
There is rubber insulation in there that can be ripped if you go crazy.
Heating is not an option due to rubber and nylon ball.
