Default Vin number on engine?

I need to match the VIN number of the engine to the car. Where on the engine can I find the VIN number?

To my knowledge there is no vin on the engine. There is one under the hood though, also your drivers side door should say,it says it in the trunk too.

I'm not sure where, but there is definately a plate with the vin on the block. Hopefully someone knows where exactly to look. My guess would be on the driver side towards the back of the block, but that's just an educated guess.

I hope you can read the picture. I pulled it out of the TIS. You should see the engine identification at the intake side of the crankcase.

Your likely going to find the engine number, which probubly doesn't match the cars VIN. Most manufacturers quit that in the late 50's.
