arm rest kit?

for those of you who have the oe armrest..i was at the dealer today picking up some bolts for the stromung. i asked the parts guy if they still carried the armrest kit for the ti. he looked it up and told me they had 7 of them. at first he said the price was $75 and i was like hell yeah. but after looking closer he said that it doesn't include the actual armrest. i told him i already have an armrest from an m3 so he ordered me this kit pn# 51-16-0-136-398. but what does this actually include? he was kinda unsure as to what the kit included. has anyone ordered this kit before? and will any armrest from an e36work with this kit? tia

I have the leatherz armrest i bought used off of a member on bimmerforums. It's the mark 2 or 3 but it was made for an e46/e36 and it fit in my car fine. So i would say yes the armrest you have will fit. Can you post a pic of the armrest u have?

I'm told the M3 armrest doesn't make a perfect fit. I purchased from the dealer the 318ti armrest, and it fits as it should. Cost was....I think....$180.00

i think any e36 armrest will work with this kit. the armrest i have (from an M3) fits just right, into the big L shaped thing. also the armrest i purchased came with the big L shaped thing and the two big L shaped things are identical. gonna go put it on now

The 318ti arm rest kit doesn't come with any ashtray or change holder in the rear compartment.. You will have to buy that separately. Also, I'm told the base that sits below the handbrake is not the same for the M3 and the 318ti. You will have to try and fit the M3 base, to be sure.

Yes, but there is another page showing 3 types of rear compartments. You can choose between coin holder, trash holder or ashtray

That base section looks like it's the 318ti model. The small square area to the front is only found on the 318ti arm rest. Is this the 318ti arm rest in the picture?

yes, the so called base is what i ordered the other day at the dealership. the first post explains the part number. post number 4 shows what this kit included. the actual leather armrest is from a M3. the huge plastic L shaped part that goes underneath the console is the same for all e36's. the only thing thats different is the pieces that surround the base of the armrest.

OK, makes sense. I needed a sandbeige model arm rest, and my leather is mint, so I opted for the new arm rest.

i'm getting a brand new full armrest kit in leather (sandgrau color, which is what my interior is) for $180 from crevier bmw in CA.
