Hey guys,
After having purchased a set of Bekkers lowering caps/spring seats a while ago I finally decided to drop by a shop and have them installed. At the same time I also replaced the worn out front struts.
So all is well, car looks good and all but...
Whether I turn the steering wheel to the left or to the right it makes a clicking sound once or twice and then when in that position the wheel pulls like crazy to that side. What could have gone wrong?

Oops one more thing...

Possible stripped rack BAD thing! don't drive it.
Eventually it will turn right and not return to the left.

The sound mysteriously dissappeared althought the car does still pull a but to one side after turning the wheel. Could just be an alignment issue now.

Well I took the car to 2 totally separate mechanics, one of which is a BMW master tech to have my suspension checked out. As it turns our the Bekkers spring seats are the cuplrit. Both mechanics dissassembled the front suspension and so no errors in previous installation and placement.
This totally sux, to top it off the car barely looks lowered. They advertise a 1.5" drop, and it looks like .75" at best.

What's the proper name for the OEM spring seat since I through my olds out and need new ones to get my ride back in shape. I see no mention of springs seats in a catalog I have. Is it strut mounts?

Are you sure it wasn't an install issue. Just from looking at the caps, I can't see why they wouldn't work as advertized. L8 I had 2 totally separate mechanics dissassemble and reassemble the fron suspension both came back with the same answer. Perhaps there was a pre-existing issue that may now be causing this? Who know. But the bottom line is the car barely looks lowered so I'm just gonna do what I should have done and get an H&R/Bilstein combo. | | | | |
