Default Hi Guys new to 318Ti

Hey guys just joined, i own a 1999 BMW E36 1.8i Convertible. Recently purchased a M52B28tu Engine from a BMW Z3. it came with a ECU, Wiring Loom.

Looking to swap this in, Hopefully i can get a copy of "J!MS MANUAL" .

Pictures to soon follow up.

Hi 6n, Going thru that now.

'98 Hellrot Ti survivor car, little to no rust
Black M interior and M dash & Vadors which are all wired up properly. Looks factory w/no passive restraint or check engine light. Only got one seat heater to work though. The MPG gauge seems to work also.
'96 M52B28 iron block from a cabrio. At machine shop for line hone (for studs) and a quick shave.
'99 M3 harness
'00 Z3M DME. Probably going to Kassel
OBD 1 manifold. Adapter kit from Kassel.
'92 IS coupe LSD carrier in the original Diff housing and original 3.46 gear set.
Exorbitant $$'s for S cams now so planning on using Riot Racing cams and their big bore throttle body. They have an exchange program for both.

Using an '99 M3 harness which we sent to Jonathon at Redline (Per Jim's advice) for a rework and also sent the Vanos. Too inexpensive not to on both. They said it'll be plug and play but I suspect we'll need to move a wire or two. They're also removing the third extra (big) plug that goes near the master cylinder. Becomes vestigial on a Ti

We opted to use the M3 harness vs the ZM harness that we have as its exactly the same bundling and plastic encasement. Looking to sell the Z harness if you need something from it.

Pulling the rear sub-frame now to reinforce the floor. Until we source an M rear assembly we'll reinforce and also built a right side diff mount. Hoping for 300 at the wheels but we know that's optimistic. Ill post as we make progress but its glacially slow.

Hi 6n,

After regrettably selling my ti four years ago I recently purchased another. There is a bit of a cult following with these and whether they are modified or kept original, they have a certain character that doesn’t exist anymore, and you know the whole story about them being rejected at the time they were brought over adds to the nostalgia. I wish you a lot of luck in getting yours on the road.

Its going to take some time have the M52 ready. Hated to take it apart but it had a coolant leak and needed a refresh. Given that and since its middle of winter we are in the process of pulling the rear subframe to strengthen up the frame and diff mounts. Have it half out and it seems fairly straight forward.

We were planning on unhooking the e-brake cables from inside the car but does anyone have any thoughts on just unhooking them at the spindle??? Seem less intrusive that way.

Already built a right side diff mount but while its out we'll weld ilayer of tin on the left mount tabs then mill up a hockey puck for it if its big enough.

The big nut and washer on the mount pictured appears to not be needed. I just added it in case the mount spread apart at the hockey puck insulator. It hasn't moved so I'll be cutting the stud 1/2" stud off the body side plate.
