It's rare because it has 276,000 miles and is still looking like a functional car!

Any idea what kind of liquid appears to be coating the top of the motor in the underhood picture?

Thanks for the information.

The car is local to me and I am trying to talk myself into going to have a look despite the high miles.

Default For Sale 1996 BMW 318Ti

What makes this car rare amongst other 318Ti in the US is: IT IS RUST FREE.

This car was sold originally in California, stayed local and serviced by the local BMW dealership by first owner. I am the second owner.

It appears there is a big difference between cars kept in California and many other places across the US where rust eats away at the car.

Best Regards, BMW Fred

Good luck with the auction sale, Fred.

By the way, how long did you own the car?
