Default 2002 E46 Compact 318TI: Head unit swap & compatibility w/10 speaker system: info requ

Hi everyone, i'm new to the forum so, Greetings!

I've recently become the proud owner of a 2002 318TI Compact with BMW Professional Stereo and 10 speaker upgrade, and would like to know wether my current head unit, a Sony MEX-BT2700 (4x52W) is compatible with the 10 speaker system in the 318? And if so is it a straight swap with a harness adapter, or would it require more serious wiring adjustments?

The car isn't yet in my possession for insurance reasons so i can't just swap in my Sony head unit to check, and even if did i'm reluctant to buy a harness adapter that may well be useless...

All and any help is really appreciated, thanks!

I can't really see why it wouldn't be, my mom has an E46 with a Sony headunit and it works fine, even the steering wheel controls work

it's really a case of how good a job you do installing it, it might be a job for a professional audio shop
