My check engine light came on a couple weeks ago and I took it into the shop and it was a broken vaccum hose? My mechanic didn't tell me what the hose was, but he said it was hard to get to, and lucky for me the hose was long enough that he could re-crimp it back onto whatever it was on. Well... 2 days later not to my surprise the check engine light came back on. I don't know what hose he was talking about and I tried looking around the engine compartment, but didn't see anything broken... Does anyone know what vaccum hose would cause the check engine light to come on and where it may be located... I would like to try and find it myself and see what he was talking about. There is a good chance that the hose is still connected, but now my O2 sensors need replaced or something like that....

Thanx!

Danny,

I have had my "Camshaft position sensor" replaced just last week and there was a vaccum hose that my Mechanic repair.
The vaccum hose will, cause the CEL to come ON. Now which one is it? That you will have to explore. Just see if any one of them has cracks on them, specially close to the place they plug into the emgine. You may want to take the car back to the same guy and ask him which hose did he fix.

It will be good if you replace your o2 sensors too which is a very easy job to do.

Good Luck!

easiest way to check for a leak.
Take tubing that is small enough to fit gently in your ear use the other end to go around all of the lines with the engine on. You will hear a hiss (air escaping) if there is a leak.
