I looked on realoem.com and didn't find what I was looking for. (probably a user error, but I've spend over 2 hours looking) I was advised by another member on this forum to see if I could pick one up used from someone else here. If anyone has this piece in good condition, I'd be interested in buying it off of you. I'd need it shipped to CA 95076 (or I can pickup if close enough) If you are reading this and don't have the part, but know the part number, I'd be soooo grateful to have it. Thanks in advance!!! *Erica | | | 10-17-2009, 07:29 AM | #2 | Member Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Grand Forks, ND Posts: 56 | Have you looked at DDM? That is if no one has any for sale. http://www.ddmtuning.com/index.php?p...203&parent=152 I am assuming that is what you are looking for. That reminds me, I need a new splash shield as well. DDM is shipping pretty quick now, just bought some stuff at 2pm today and they shipped it same day. | | | 10-17-2009, 09:00 AM | #3 | Member Join Date: Aug 2009 Location: santa cruz, ca Posts: 80 | Part Referral Thanks for the site referral, unfortunately, I don't need something that hard core. I only need the original plastic piece that was on the car to begin with. Back to hunting for another one. Thanks anyways. | | | 10-17-2009, 03:18 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | I've never seen an E36 with an intact splash shield, those things are so brittle and a lot of people just forget about them and drive the car without them. You might have a hard time finding one for sale. Have you asked the dealer how much it would cost? I seem to remember someone saying it wasn't that expensive. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 10-17-2009, 03:18 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | I don't recall either of my ti's having one. I'll try to get a part number off of it, couldn't find one on realoem. I've already recommended these two aftermarket underpanels to the OP, but she's looking for a cheap one. Anyone parting out a car want to help her out? In case anyone else needs one: http://motionmotorsport.net/products...05332af3991bb5 http://jtdesigns.stores.yahoo.net/body.html | | | 10-18-2009, 01:55 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | Yeah, motion motorsport is supposed to be the best one because it doesn't rely on the brittle plastic pieces that are already there to attach to the car. The JTD version does. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 10-18-2009, 04:35 PM | #11 | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2008 Location: Baltimore Posts: 18 | Quote: Originally Posted by boss23 Been looking everywhere for this part. Have a good day, Tad __________________ | | | 10-18-2009, 08:27 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Manassas, VA Posts: 4,129 | I have the one coolJess76 posted links to. It was on until I trashed my front bumper. I haven't put it back on since installing my new bumper. Wasn't thrilled with how it mounted, like someone said, it attaches to the plastic parts. Still debating putting it back on. I looked at mine and found the number stamped on the top of the panel, then verified it on realoem. I guess we were looking right at it the whole time. It's item# 12 in this diagram: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...51&fg=75&hl=27 It's held on by a bunch of smaller panels that support it. Basically when fully assembled, it wraps completely around the radiator. Realoem has it listed as an "air duct". So while we know it as an underpanel, it's actual purpose is to direct airflow through the radiator. LMK if your car has the rest of the plastic panels that support it. If not, I can find the part numbers on mine and help you out. Pelicanparts sells it for $25.25 and getbmwparts.com sells it for $19.58. Hope this helps! | | | 10-19-2009, 01:21 AM | #15 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Here's the remaining part#'s for the side support panels that the underpanel attaches to: 51718212144, 51718186980, 51718212143 And here's a few pics of how it looks assembled: | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
