I also can't use the HIDs in the highs.. illegal and I would never get to use them. Too many people around here | | | 01-19-2007, 03:24 AM | #32 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | Excellent, see you answered yourself! (BTW H1 bulbs all around) | | | 01-19-2007, 03:45 AM | #33 | doesn't care about you. Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Denver, CO Posts: 3,925 | DON'T run HIDs with standard US headlights!! HID bulbs in free-form lenses will BLIND all on-coming traffic. HIDs can ONLY be installed in elipsoids (euro projectors). I know you want to make this group-buy happen, but telling people it's ok to run these in US headlights is just plain wrong. __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 01-19-2007, 03:55 AM | #34 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | Hey, look at how I said theoretically. I know the light pattern isn't the same with the standard reflectors. DISCLOSURE: If installing in standard US Plastic enclosure, the light scatter may blind oncoming traffic. This is why I suggested high beams (since they're off when oncoming traffic is near). | | | 01-19-2007, 04:54 AM | #35 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | Anyone with ZKW's know what bulb type? I've been seeing conflicting stuff, both H7 and H1. | | | 01-19-2007, 10:43 PM | #36 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | OK, Looks like both Kingston Tech. and Luminux were voted out. We need 3 more for this buy to happen. Just 3 more!!! C'mon guys. You'll get the lights in a couple of weeks after paying, much less than the group buys on BF.com, warranty... etc. For those already in, please list your preferred company in order from favorite to least favorite and PM that list to me. Thanks. -Pat | | | 01-20-2007, 12:09 AM | #37 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: dorchester Posts: 700 | sooo is it the same with uk lights than?? I'm pretty sure they're ok with the glass hellas (from what I've read on BF.com). | | | 01-20-2007, 02:57 AM | #40 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: Malden, MA Posts: 672 | I'm down for some 5000K H4's pending on price. __________________ "Power Rules, Smooth is Fast, Late Brake if you HAVE TO, But Always get the Inside Line.......and Fear No One." | | | 01-20-2007, 03:09 AM | #41 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: la jolla, ca Posts: 222 | H1 is for the Euro Ellipsoid correct? Or will one need to deal with cutting into factory wires (and splicing/soldering)? | | | 01-20-2007, 06:06 AM | #43 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | G.T., they are plug and play. Juni, depending on which group we go with, it'll range between 135-155 + s/h. Shipping won't be much, just standard USPS rates. Also, H4's are the listed price with just low beam, since the low beam is so bright most people don't use the highs. H4's with both high and low beam are more money. Not much more, but about $30 I think. This group buy will close as soon as I get a PM from everyone with their preferences of provider. I personally like Eagle Technologies the most, especially since if we get 12 orders or more, the price drops $3 down to $147 and $152 respectively. | | | 01-20-2007, 06:36 AM | #44 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: la jolla, ca Posts: 222 | ^Eagle sounds nice but when it says cardboard does that imply the unit is put in cardboard? I thought you were supposed to mount that somewhere in your engine bay and I can't imagine cardboard would last long with moisture and heat. __________________ Present: `99 M coupe Past: `91 330is; `95 318ti Active; `93 325is; `97 318ti Sport; `89 332is | | | 01-20-2007, 06:44 AM | #45 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | Quote: Originally Posted by windnsea00 ^Eagle sounds nice but when it says cardboard does that imply the unit is put in cardboard? I'm going to upload pictures of the remaining companies. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
