So today was supposed to be a great day. I was scheduled to receive my BMP hi-flow intake, and I did indeed receive it. However, you should have seen the look of dissappointment on my face. I paid $150 for a stupid K&N filter, breather & a metal bracket. Furthermore, I also paid an additional $60 for an aluminum heat shield. Nowhere on any of these products are the initials BMP etched, engraved, no decals, nothing. It looks so good on their website and in person it looks like crap. My gripe is purely based on aesthetics as I purchased this for no other reason but that. Cliffsnotes: Do not buy the BMP hi-flo intake, just buy yourself a standard K&N cone filter and call it a day. K, thanks, bye __________________ 1997 332ti: 18" Gold BBS LM Repro wheels, 245/35/18 tires, H&R Sport springs, Bilstein Sport shocks, 328 front calipers w/ Brembo vented rotors, Brembo rear drilled rotors, X-brace, M3 front bumper, M3 mirrors, Euro clears all around, 6k HID, Black kidney grills, French fogs, Full Magnaflow exhaust w/ High flow cat, Auto - manual swap, B&M short shifter, 3.23 LSD, URI crank pulley, 3.2 OBDII engine swap, Kirk 4 point roll bar, Dove vaders. | | | 01-25-2007, 02:55 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Port St. Johns, Florida Posts: 2,242 | for you M44 guys the Carbonics Cold Air Intake is your best intake. | | | 01-25-2007, 03:09 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: Northern Michigan Posts: 867 | try sending it back....? did you search this site for info on intakes before buying? from what i've read, they have little to no gains anyway... __________________ [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] | | | 01-25-2007, 03:31 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: Amboy, NJ Posts: 333 | Unfortunately, they won't honor a refund because there was nothing wrong with the products, ie: damage. This site really had no info on this intake. It's ok though, I'm an idiot. __________________ 1997 332ti: 18" Gold BBS LM Repro wheels, 245/35/18 tires, H&R Sport springs, Bilstein Sport shocks, 328 front calipers w/ Brembo vented rotors, Brembo rear drilled rotors, X-brace, M3 front bumper, M3 mirrors, Euro clears all around, 6k HID, Black kidney grills, French fogs, Full Magnaflow exhaust w/ High flow cat, Auto - manual swap, B&M short shifter, 3.23 LSD, URI crank pulley, 3.2 OBDII engine swap, Kirk 4 point roll bar, Dove vaders. | | | 01-25-2007, 04:28 AM | #5 | TRETEN IRGENDEINES ESELS Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Rhode Island Posts: 3,687 | Here's a tip for you. Anyone who buys a CAI for a ti with the m42 or m44 is wasting there money. Why you ask--you spend 150+ dollars on a CAI that gives you what a 1hp gain. Come on people save your money for something else thats worth while for your car. I'm just being realistic here not try to come off as a dick or anything. I bought a racing dynamics intake 3yrs ago only to find out it doesn't even fit my ti. They told me they had a 98ti there and it fit it fine but not mine. I sent them a pic of my engine bay and they told me my car was not a 98, i was almost like go f urself i think i know what year my car is. I said to them that the website is very misleading and they should update it so this doesn't happen to somebody else. The told me to send it back and i'll get a refund. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 01-25-2007, 04:54 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Manassas, VA Posts: 4,129 | Quote: Originally Posted by Panzer_M for you M44 guys the Carbonics Cold Air Intake is your best intake. | Do you mean Carbonio? Also, if you got the Dinan Stage II chip, then the CAI may be helping. I did notice a little pep after a few days driving with the chip. For the most part I don't even think they make anything, they just resell other peoples stuff... The CAI and heatshield looks like a joke. I'm not sure how a 3inch x 5 inch piece of metal is going to keep heat off of the filter... You need a completely enclosed box for that to be the case. Not to mention that the heat shield will just soak up and begin to radiate heat. I'm sure if you called them and complained and said you were completely not satisfied with the product they would allow you to return it. Might cost you a restocking fee though. | | | 02-25-2007, 04:02 PM | #13 | Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: Ithaca, NY Posts: 77 | im sure you could break it yourself and just tell them it somehow mysteriously came to you busted up. bwahahaha who cares about 1-3 hp? i like having the extra space under my hood that was opened-up by the intake. | | | 02-25-2007, 05:22 PM | #14 | doesn't care about you. Do you need additional storage area? I wouldn't recommend storing stuff in the engine bay. The excuses people come up for buying a CAI are great. __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 02-25-2007, 05:30 PM | #15 | That's not Millpoint Blue Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: BNA Posts: 3,161 | Quote: Originally Posted by DustenT What do you do with that extra space under the hood?
