Wanted to give some more info on shipping. I can ship the transmission for cheap, but it will be just at or over the 70 pound limit for FedEx Ground home delivery, so it will have to be shipped to a business address. Count on it being about $20 to ship it in California ranging up to about $50 for you Far East coast guys. I can ship it to your workplace, friends shop, wherever as long as it isn’t a residential address. As for the engine and goodies, I think that local pickup would be most practical, but if you want it shipped truck freight I would be willing to crate it and take it to a terminal in Medford Oregon for $50.00. I once shipped an E30 M3 S14 shortblock from California to a fellow in Florida, it was about $400.00, so I doubt shipping it truck freight would be worth it unless you have an insider deal. As M42 stuff goes, both the engine and transmission are low mileage. The engine mileage of 68,XXX was confirmed by me when I picked up the motor from a fellow in Fresno CA. I got to check out the guys M-powered 318, it was incredibly clean. The engine was pulled from the car in late 2002 and I purchased it in early 2003, it has been in dry inside storage ever since. The transmission has 8X,XXX miles on it. This has not been confirmed, I purchased it from a guy in San Francisco California, who had bought it from a guy parting out an E30 M42 powered 318on eBay. It is clean, and should function well. The guy who’s car the engine came out of had a garage that was meticulous, he was an engineering student at CSU Fresno, was wealthy and seemed to take incredible care of everything he owned. This IS NOT some clapped out engine out of some Primered body kit E36-Honda-civic-wannabe-rice-boy-200,000-mile-clapped-out-fake K&N filter-smoking-wrecked into a utility pole engine. This is a nice engine, and should easily provide 100,000 miles of service, comes with everything you need, hell you could convert your earlier E30 M42 powered car to the later, with more horsepower… and if you have money, bolt on a Downing Atlanta supercharger and keep up with the M3’s Anyway, the engine could be yours for 1K, no less. Thanks for looking, Peter |
