Default popping sound in door?

My car just developed a rather loud "popping" sound which occurs when the door is opened. I think it's hinge related, but I can't find anything wrong with it (no apparent play or looseness). The noise seems to happen when the door reaches the first "catch" when opening. I tried lubing the hinge with lithium grease but it didn't seem to make any difference. Anyone have any ideas??

thanks,
MIko

Nope... I have the same thing. WD40'ed it many times... goes away for a while then just comes right back in an hour or two. Sorry... I just live with it.

the latch is bent or too much pressure is on it.

And it is not that the window is loose?
There is a rubber guide that falls off.

Not the windows... comes from the hinge when it opens at a certain point.

yeah, definitely not window loose. I'm thinking the hinge is actually binding somehow. Mine started off as a real subtle rubbing sound upon door opening. It wasn't 'till I lubed it that I got the loud "popping" noise....perplexing...I am vexed!
