Default Wanted your opinion on my compression readings

I thought I would share it with you guys:

Cylinder #1: 235PSI
Cylinder #2: 240PSI
Cylinder #3: 237PSI
Cylinder #4: 240PSI

As far as I can tell these numbers look perfectly fine, particularly if you considered the 11 years and 146K miles.

BMW calls for a max difference between cylinders of 7PSI and a minimum compression of 145-160PSI.

I'm not sure how my readings compare with those of a brand new engine. If you have it, please share them.

Any comment is very welcome.

Should be at around 200PSI at sea level. Are you doing the compression test with a cold or warm engine?

I did the compression with the engine at operating temperature. I came home from work, pull all plugs right out and start the testing. It took at most 5 minutes from when the engine was off and the test started.
I actually used a $7 compression tester from Harbor Freight Tools so it could be not all that accurate.

Also, that is the maximum reading I got on the tester. It took about 7 to 10 revs (5 secs, give or take) to get where the gauge would stabilize and stop climbing. Each compression stroke the gauge increase 25 to 35 PSI.

All I was looking for was constant reading across all cylinders and it appears to be fine. I had no reason to believe my engine had a compression problem: I analyze the oil every oil change and it came back clean (no antifreeze contamination or excessive wear) and burn about 1 quart every 10K miles. It was just something Jim at Downing Atlanta recommended before installing the DASC.
