And im sorry, but saying adding a heavy dual system to the car is pure nonsense. Y piping, 2.5" midpipe with or non-catted, then a single mandrel or crush bend under the subframe to a muffler, or a muffler before the subframe and piping to the bumper. There are many ways of cutting weight, adding power, and getting a better sound. Going with another stock exhaust system is.......not the best alternative out there. I went with one because i was low on funds and had sold my SS catback and original duals. If money isnt the problem, spend the 200$ to have an exhaust made. My duals, headback with resonators and mufflers was only 300$ installed same day, a single only costed me 50$. Should give you an idea. I'm looking for a upgrade to my exhaust system | | | 05-27-2009, 06:25 PM | #41 | Member Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: MN Posts: 46 | As a temporary solution, I am planning on: Stock OBD1 manifold Stock OBD1 midpipes cut off after the cats (Like campaiar) Dual 2 inch to single 2.5 inch Y (Like campaiar) 2.5 inch pipe back to a standard aftermarket 2.5 inch muffler The cross area of a single 1.75 inch pipe is about 2.4 square inches. For dual pipes that works out to be 4.8. A single 2.5 inch pipe is 4.9 square inches, so it should work fine. And according to the tables in Maximum Boost, it is plenty big: Eventually I will redo it all when I get some real headers, but this should be a cheap and easy solution for now. Edit: Hey, campaiar, do you happen to remember how big of pipe was on the muffler you put in? | | | 05-29-2009, 03:10 PM | #42 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: Cincinnati Posts: 890 | It welded directly to the 2.5" Y-pipe without any issues. It does drop in size slightly after the weld. I'd have to measure it. __________________ SOLD!!! 1999 332ti //M Sport Titanium Silver M3 S52 3.2 I-6 Engine, M3 Clutch w/ ti Getrag Trans, Z3 3.15 LSD medium case diff and half shafts, OEM Hatch Spoiler, Eurosport HP Underdrive Pulleys, FDM, 17" DS1 rims, M3 Front Struts & Springs, M3 Instrument Cluster, 3-spoke //M steering wheel with tri-color stitching, SSK, CCFL Angels in Depo projectors with 5k HIDs | | | 05-29-2009, 07:22 PM | #43 | Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Fairfield, CA Posts: 93 | | | | 05-29-2009, 07:57 PM | #44 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Raleigh/Charlotte, NC Posts: 1,233 | thats about how mine looks __________________ -Jeff | | | 05-29-2009, 10:54 PM | #45 | Member Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Netherlands Posts: 93 | I have the complete 3.2 M3 exhaust, offcourse the headers and mid section will fit. But even with modifications, I can't use the rear muffler. It's simply to big, even if you modify it, there is still a distance from not even 1 inch between the half shaft and muffler... I just recieved an OEM Z3 3.0 exhaust, will fit it tomorrow and post some pic's I think the rubber hangers will be the same as the Ti, I don't know if the tips will fit with the 323Ti bumper. I will probably just welt it to the M3 mid section. Does this 3.0 exhaust restrict my (Euro) 3.2 engine bad? __________________ S50B32, manual 6-speed, LSD, Z3 M rear axle, ///M sport package, 17" LTW's, Eibach Pro-Kit | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
