I think you need to align the EWS/ECU. Its the only thing I can think of right now. | | | 06-07-2009, 01:33 AM | #3 | Member Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: philly Posts: 87 | Quote: Originally Posted by HuGo Is your car OBD1 or OBD2? I did all the re-wiring that you are supposed to do, but nothing...the EWS gets cut as not to send a kill signal...I was under the impression that when you are switching to the OBD I from the OBD II you didn't have to get them aligned...am I wrong?...thanks for the insight though | | | 06-07-2009, 06:03 PM | #4 | Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Fairfield, CA Posts: 93 | The other thing to check out would be that you have your power hooked up right. There should be three cables going to your positive terminal. One goes to the alternator/starter, one to the body power box, and one provides power to the rest of the engine. If you have a multimeter you can check and make sure you are getting power to the starter as well. You should always have 12v on the red wire. Also, check the ignition switch to make sure the black/yellow (on mine) wire is getting power when you turn the key to start. | | | 06-08-2009, 05:16 AM | #5 | Member Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: philly Posts: 87 | Quote: Originally Posted by Kilijan The other thing to check out would be that you have your power hooked up right. With chipped keys (and I am no expert and don't really know how any of it works) I think all the stuff has to match so that it can send the proper signal otherwise it has the OEM anti-theft stuff that won't allow you to start the car... I think. at least it may be something to look into if you haven't already. goodluck. EDIT: ummm I am a little behind the times I guess thats what you meant by the EWS huh?? ...well goodluck anyway | | | 06-16-2009, 04:42 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | Ive done quite a few write ups in this section and on bimmerforums.com for OBDII chassis to OBDI, ews delete. You should recheck the threads as they come with diagrams, picures, and text. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
