J!m's swap manual is excellent... I see you have already posted in his Q&A thread, so he can get one to you... I purchased one and it was great... the problems I have been having are related to the parts I got, not related to the difficulty of the swap itself... OBD1 to OBD1 is the easiest of all 4 to 6 cyl swaps...

it's easy. i just did one recently, and i've done a few more in the past. everything bolts in place. you need an engine, trans, driveshaft, wiring harness, ac and power steering lines, radiator and cooling stuff, and a gauge cluster... that that's about it, i think, lol

We should have the new harness completely installed tomorrow! Keep your fingers crossed that it all goes well, and I have an appointment to get a custom exhaust done on Monday... It just might be done for Xmas!

No more destroying engines. People seem to like vandalizing his shop down there. Maybe I should talk with him about some cameras and whatnot. Let us know if swapping the harness gets you up and going. We'll have to get all the swapped ti's together in the area.

Ok, it's official. This swap is doomed.

New harness in, no progress. Still have an electrical gremlin relating to the DME pin 54 which gets power from ECU relay, which gets power directly from battery... Relay is fine, have tried 3 different ones, all fine. Battery is fine, battery cable is fine. Diagnostic port works and it is in the same power loop as the relay to pin 54. Harness pinned out perfect prior to install.

WHAT THE _ _ _ _ IS WRONG?

It is so frustrating, as the car had no, I repeat, no electrical issues before the swap. Now, it thwarts us at every turn. If I had any hair, I would be ripping it out!

that sucks, doesn't seem like there's anything else to do other than start replacing computers and that could turn expensive pretty quick

It doesn't seem to have anything to do with the different modules from the body side of the chassis. Something with the RxD line is wreaking havoc...

hmm.... odd enough. you sure the ews units are the right ones?
i mean, i don't mean to doubt your work, just that when i did my swap i had all power and such but no start up. next morning i swapped out the ews units and such and BAM! VROOOM VROOM!! ... is there fuel? maybe a bad pump? or something. cuz i mean you've tried two different harnesses.
would suck if you had to pull it all out and start from the beginning just to make sure everything is in order. ugh. just reading your thread gets me agravated.

The car is OBD-I and has the ews disabled. It is the third harness, DME, starter relay, etc. The GM IV module has also been swapped. The coil packs are getting signal, the injectors are getting signal. The car also turns over.
